Successful Makeup & Hair in & TV?

In todays class we explored the use of makeup and hair in film and how to make it successful.

Mirror Mirror
The hair styling within mirror mirror is successful all considerations are though of the hair styles suit the characters and blend well within the scene surroundings. In class we discussed elements within the film that make it successful such as the use of the partings to show innocence at the begging and a fringe to show time lapse at the end.

Things you need to consider when looking at successful hair:
- Shape
-Era
-Versatility in terms of mood and atmosphere and scene
-Hair must move!- how it moves with the character or dose it not move at all?
-Hair must compliment skin tone, eye colour, eye brows, makeup
- colour must be considered in relation to lighting
-communicate with the lighting, wardrobe and makeup people
-when using wigs hairlines must not show
-details must be considered for example a small bit of hair falling from a bun? why has this been done.

Mulan Rouge
Again within both hair and makeup considered the scene character actor and lighting. This created very successful aesthetics, further showing inspiration points within the hair and makeup design such as the soft finger wave from the 40's era.

Things you need to consider when looking at successful makeup:
- dose it suite the character and the situation
-HD perfection
- no unintentional blemishes or smudges
-every single detail needs to be precise
-make sure products suit the skin type- test!
-consideration of hair colour, character, lighting.
-who has applied it in the scene professional makeup artists or character.
