Emcee

For my character for the club culture images using reference from 'Cabaret' and Weimar Berlin i have chosen the Emcee a character that represent sexual freedom. I chose this character as i wanted to explore this character in modern day club culture. The Emcee know for his questionable sexuality and experimentative and flamboyant dress in many of the productions from 'Cabaret' this is a very modern idea in a very historical time the 1930's. The Emcee attracted males and females although not directly involved within the story line of 'cabaret' he's always pictured in the Kit Kat club messing around with the girls, dancing, singing and being provocative. I feel this would be an interesting character as making him contemporary is very hard as many qualities about him are already contemporary, for example the idea of making him drag a very modern idea seen in many club around London and a huge part of club culture is already a huge part of the character from the book, script and film. The images below are from the stage production of 'cabaret' picture is Allan Cummings as the Emcee Allan already known for being homosexual.

Initially when i think of club culture and the Emcee i though of my friend perviously talked about someone who dresses very femininely but is proud of being male, something that person enjoys making people look twice and be surprised.
