Digital Mood-board Contemporary
Within this mood board i have gathered images of the setting i imagine the scene to be in modern day Weimar Berlin, i have further collected hair inspiration of textured finger waves, colour use onto the face for the makeup inspiration and the androgens look i am going for as i will be using a female model. Lastly i have included styling within the board to demonstrate the overall atmosphere and feel of my final look.

Fantasy Hair
In todays lesson we were given a word and instructed to develop our designs to make it fit into the design we had already created for our club culture character. I was partnered with Lauren and our word was Fantasy we began by creating sketches of our original ideas and brain storming between us drawing out our ideas for both how we could make mine and Lauren's designs relate to Fantasy.
Left to right original hair style to two contemporary, fantasy outcomes drawings.
Design 2
We then had to create our designs on either a dolls head or partner i created my second design onto Lauren, although in the original sketch the colour would have been a baby pink ombre into a plumb pink and the kiss curl buns ombre into mint green glitter this then also brushed through the finger waves and kiss curls.
I was very pleased with my finger waves and feel that the more i have practised the better i became.
I liked the buns although they could have been more structured and none of the pins showing, i like this design and feel it works for both my 1930's influence and club culture, although i won't be using it as my character is the Emcee and i feel this is more of a feminine design.

Styling Emcee
When researching my hair design elements i came across this image, i was very inspired by this and i want to use this as inspiration for the styling of my Emcee Characterisation. I feel creating a jacket or something similar with nothing on underneath at the top from tinsel would compliment the texture within the hair but add a flamboyant, extrovert factor something during my research i have found creates a club kid.
After thinking and being very inspired by this idea i began looking images on pintrest of tinsel coats and was surprised how many images i found i feel this is very different and would add an interesting element to the images.
I was thinking of a way to make the jacket so that it blends in with the rest of the look i began thinking about making the look monochromatic and making the jacket baby pink so that it wouldn't take away from the elements within the makeup and hair. I have created a design that i will get a faux fur baby pink gilet and create tinsel sleeves so that the elements are there but it dosent steal attention away from the main element of the look. I feel this look further relates to elements within 1920's fashion the flapper dresses mainly in style the tiers within the dress mirror the tinsel along with heavy embellishment use within 1920's fashion furthermore fur was a huge part of the winter wardrobe.

Hair Development
After doing my makeup on the model i decided that i want the hair colour to blend into the makeup design using a pastel pink i have collected these three images based on the texture i wanted to use within my design. I want the finger wave to look very crispy and hard, like the Emcee has layered his hair so it dose not move throughout the night.
Colour inspiration for the hair, i have chosen the colour pink as i wanted it to blend in with the makeup but further i wanted a very feminine colour pastel pink is associated with girls and this idea that a man who constantly questions is sexuality is very pink with a pop of red a colour know to be associated with lust and anger i feel will look effective.
When creating the makeup look i wanted to explore using accessories within the hair possibly adding some glitter or diamontes known to be associated with club kids culture.
After research on accessorise as shown above i love the idea of using tinsel like material from the middle image, i feel this is relatable to club culture and adds depth into an all pink look, i feel i would like to use either a blue or green to compliment the colours used already within the design.

Development of Face Charts
In class i experimented on Laila doing half a face of my two favourite designs from my face charts.
Design 1

When creating this design i was hesitant how it would work onto a face as obviously there were features to work around the the 3D element could make the line not look as geometric as i would want.
I liked the colours of the eye shadow as a contour and the Aqua Colour pallet, although i felt the line didn't work as well on the face as it did on my face chart although i did only do half i face i felt that the main part of the design didn't work too well.
I really liked this design on my model i felt the colour worked well on the face and the featured enhanced the shapes rather than distracting like the other design. I loved the effect of the eye brow shape and colour showing through as originally i was going to cover them up before the eyebrow shape i feel that this shadow of the brow and the lip looked very effective with the red colour and bold shapes. I further loved the contrast between the baby pastel pink tone from the contour and the bold sharp red tone on the features.
I feel this design relates well to club culture inspired by influences such as Leigh Bowery but includes 1930's elements through the red tone and hair structure.
I preferred my second design as i felt that the overall composition of the placement of colour worked better. I further feel that it shows my design development better having included elements from my research and hold club culture influences and 1930's influences also.
I further talked to Lottie about my hair design and discussed with her the best way to achieve this would be to create the style wet with gel and then spray the hair using a pastel pink colour spray then the style won't be effected and i can get the crispy effect i want.

Emcee Characterisation & Scene development
Emcee
I have chosen act one scene one as i wanted to create the first time you ever see the character of the Emcee this scene is iconic within the film and script, most of the other scene had a theme and i felt that this was the scene that i could fully explore the Emcee's very open sexual freedom. This scene further can be very relatable to club culture within many London club's the Emcee introduces the night or is there to entertain and this scene for me depicts this.
London Club
The character i want to be pictured in a London Club on stage or even standing on a table or something above the rest of the crowd making himself known to the drunk excitable clubbers the lights directed onto him. Its late at night around 1am everyone by this point is very drunk and outrageous the Emcee only making the crowd more so.
I feel that within this scene the Emcee is inviting people into the night life of the extrovert ways of Weimar Berlin, this could further relate to my interpretation in the modern characterisation of the Emcee relating to club culture. The Emcee is in a London club past the early hours of the morning incising people in and making the people in the club drink, do drugs and act outrageously and flamboyant allowing the atmosphere of anything goes. The Emcee wants to draw people into the night and party with them and if they don't or the night ends early he will find more people and party on with them never allowing the party to end.

I have chosen my active verbs for the scene to be inviting, enticing and alluring i feel that the Emcee is a mystical character that wants the world to be lost having fun and exploring sexuality, dress, gender, social situations and life in general.
- From Cabaret Script

York, p.All. Available at:

2014].
I imagine the character for the Emcee to be quite young usually the character is pictured late 20's i would picture him early 20's, i imagine the character to be very flamboyant, extrovert and outrageous below i have collected two images one of Allan Cummings within the stage production of Cabaret and the other of my friend clubbing in London i feel the guy on the right is dressed similarly this shows how the Emcee characterisations is very current.
Within the original time the script was set the Emcee was used throughout the script to depict the political and social situation within Berlin in the 1920's & 30's singing songs about the underlying issues relating to the rest of the characters story line, for example- within a song he's singing to a gorilla singing how beautiful she is and he wishes others could see her beauty. This related to two characters within the outer story whom couldn't get together as she was a Jew.
Using the Emcee within this way i feel is very cleaver, i want to keep this part of the Emcee within my characterisation although i want to picture him young i want him to be very cleaver and aware of situations out of the club scene.
I am further considering the use of a female model i feel this would bring in the element of blurring the lines between gender something that was done a lot with both Cabaret and Club Culture, androgony as a statement but not to the extreme of drag.

Act One-Scene One
'Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome!'
This scene is the very opening scene from the script 'Cabaret' its the first time the audience see's the kit Kat club and is invited into the flamboyant world of Weimar Berlin within the 30's. It further explores through the song the sexual freedom the night life of Berlin holds and the extrovert ways of the Emcee.
