Club Culture Intro

The idea of this next project is to look at club culture considered as the modern day Weimar Berlin comparable to what was happening in Berlin within the 20's and 30's. Club culture finds itself alive, vibrant and rebelious in the streets of London in places such as Hoxton, Shoreditch, Brixton and Notting Hill Club culture brings together the extrovert flamboyant personalities, people that are not afraid to express themselves through attitude, the way they dress, makeup and hair. Designers, Makeup artists, artists, Singers, Photographers and people alike have all been inspired by art school vibes within London's club scene.

'Art school kids were relevant to everybody. They mixed the straights with the gays, the blacks with the whites, the green with the blues. It was to take these disenfranchised people, bring them to the city, give them jobs, create a universe.'
-Lecture notes

I feel inspired by this project i personally went to Central St Martins and lived round the corner from Hoxton Square for a year. Submerged within the art school extrovert ways of these outrageous personalities that are known and associated with Club Culture. I experienced the flamboyance of these people dressing up in elaborate and extreme outfits to go clubbing in clubs such as 'The Nest, Your mums house', 'XOYO' and 'Heaven' a few i experienced within my time living in London were they were filled with people expressing themselves through the way they looked. Gender was never a question a good friend of mine at the time often wearing women's Vintage lingering and dresses, making himself into a 40's glamour idol but still keeping his beard. These people are not afraid to be themselves or even if not themselves experiment with what ever they want within there styling.
